Rescue of Snake (Python)
16-17 December, 2006

First time ever Rescue Operation was carried out in the middle of the Sea. On 16.12.2006 a call was received on behalf of Capt. J. C. Das of MT "Lt. Rama Raghoba Rane, PVC" that there is a Python in the upper Deck, which is to be rescued for safety of Naval person. Immediately a team of BSPCA Inspectors, Mr. Sunil Shyamkumar Ranade and Mr. Sandeep P. Raul detailed to rescue the Snake Python. At 6 pm, BSPCA Inspectors reached the Naval Dock (Bhaucha Dhakka), from there they started a journey covering 4 ½ hours and reached by 10 pm and at 10.15 pm, they rescued one snake Python from the upper deck which is 12 ft. long. After the rescue, the Inspectors returned to BSPCA at 4 am in the morning on 17.12.2006.
After the checking and treatment at the animal hospital, the snake was handed over to wild life authorities for discharge.
