Rescue of Camel to be Sacrificed on Bakri-Id

On 31st Jan 2004, Bombay SPCA rescued 4 year old camel that was being prepared for sacrifice on the occasion of Bakri-id at Dongri.
BSPCA Inspectors went to Dongri but met with stiff resistance from camel owners and residents. The Dongri police and local MLA intervened and camel was rescued from the area, the owner was booked under Section PCA Act 1960.
The Hospital staff named camel Kaveri. Kaveri was suffering from dermatitis and condition of dehydration. On 18th Feb2004, Kaveri gave birth to Shiva, 31 kilos baby. After 3 months, Kaveri was left for her destination at Bhagwan Pashuraksha at Kutch.
